Everyone knows about the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota, but do you know the history behind the rally or town? I found this 89-minute documentary to be entertaining as well as educated. Not only does the DVD focus on the rally, but gives wonderful accounts of the town's history, its namesake and in general about the area as a whole from the Black Hills community to the rally's beginnings and offers views with or without bikers.

Did you know that the town of Sturgis was named after Col. Samuel D. Sturgis? Who was he, where did he come from? How was the town founded? What do Crazy Horse, George Custer and the National Anthem have to do with Sturgis? The Rally began in 1938, but why? Find out from one of the members of the Jackpine Gypsies motorcycle club, who was actually there in the beginning. Are you interested in the history of the nearby Bear Butte and Fort Meade?
